Have you ever looked in the mirror at yourself? Did you like the person staring back at you? It’s a crazy experience and feeling. Staring at the person in the mirror and not loving what you see. I have had multiple experiences like this. I looked in the mirror and hated what was staring back at me. A person might ask. How did you get to this point? What made you feel this way? Well, as a young girl I never felt like I was beautiful or accepted in this world. That could be because I never heard my parents say any these words like “beautiful” or “ gorgeous”. Maybe because every time I turned on the TV, I always saw thin skinny women. I never saw any women whom look like me.
Now, you might be asking “How do you feel about yourself today?” “How did you get past this moment in life? I truly start dealing with this issue in college. After, meeting a group of young ladies; who I consider today to be my really good friends. I heard some of these ladies say some unpleasant things about themselves. Things I couldn’t imagine to be true. They were so beautiful and amazing in their own special way. “How could they feel this way?” It made me realize, we all may suffer with truly loving ourselves. So, I started praying to God for clarity, on why I felt this way about myself. God brought me to this scripture “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” - Genesis 1:27, KJV. God makes no mistakes. When God created you, he created you in his image. Why not love what God has created. Next, I started to write down 3 things I love about myself daily. Writing down these daily affirmations about myself change my whole mindset. This process renewed my mind and my feelings about myself. These two steps can jump start your self confident levels. Try it for 30 days, I believe your life will be forever change. Remember that Self-Love starts with You.
